"If you have ever had to rise from your own ashes you will find something of yourself here. Not a promise of perfection. But the possibility of becoming whole again."
Legal & Paralegal Support | Professional Writing | Research | Author & Publishing Services
I provide experienced remote paralegal support, professional writing, research, and author and publishing services to attorneys, businesses, professionals, and independent authors who need reliable help without the overhead of adding full-time staff or engaging a large professional-services provider.
As part of the mission behind Rising From The Ashes, I have a particular heart for individuals facing financial hardship, entrepreneurs and start-ups working with limited resources, independent authors, and solo and small law firms that may not have the budget for large professional-service providers. Whenever possible, I strive to offer practical, affordable solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances, using the talents and experience God has given me to help others move forward.
If you have found your way here, you are stepping into a testimony of healing, a story God began long before I ever understood what He was doing. My name is John Catanzaro writing under the pen name John Gambacorta. I am a husband, a father, a survivor‑advocate, and a man who lived behind emotional walls for years until God began breaking them down piece by piece.
This space exists because of my step‑daughter Mallory — a daughter by love — whose passing shattered the numbness I had lived in for decades. Her loss was the moment God used to confront the wounds I buried, the moment He began pulling me out of the ashes and into truth.
This is where her story meets mine: in grief, in awakening, and in the slow, steady restoration only God can accomplish. As He healed me, He also began healing the relationships around me — softening my heart, rebuilding trust, and restoring what trauma once fractured. The man I am becoming is learning to surrender, to speak honestly, and to walk in the freedom God has been shaping through pain, mercy, and transformation.
Through Rising From The Ashes Ministry, my desire is simple: to stand as a living testimony of God’s power to heal, restore, and redeem — and to help others rise from their own ashes through the same hope that saved me.
My stepdaughter Mallory was twenty‑two when she died. Twenty‑two, an age when most people are still trying to understand who they are, yet she moved through the world with a wisdom I had not earned even at twice her age. She carried a light, bright, unguarded, unashamed, that changed every room she entered, every person she touched, every life that crossed hers.
Her death shattered us. It tore through our family like a storm we never saw coming, leaving pieces of us scattered in places we are still learning to reach. Her passing awakened something in me I did not know still existed. She cracked open the numbness I had lived behind for decades. I was forced to feel, to see, to reckon with the man I had become and the man I still had a chance to be.
This website, and the work I do now, exists because of her, because her story deserves to keep moving, keep breathing, keep changing people the way she changed me. Not as a tragedy frozen in time, but as a testimony to the power of love, forgiveness, and the kind of light that refuses to die.
For most of my life, I lived emotionally frozen, a man shaped by childhood wounds, hardened by survival, and driven by a beast I did not understand. It was not until Mallory’s death that something inside me broke open. Grief did not just devastate me. It reactivated me.
This awakening is the spine of the Rising From The Ashes Trilogy; the moment everything shifted, the moment truth broke through the silence, the moment God began rebuilding what trauma tried to destroy.
And from this awakening came the next step of faith in my journey, a step reflected in Rise Up And Walk.
I am a man of faith, and I believe deeply in the power of God’s healing. My journey has been shaped by moments where Jesus met me in places I did not think anyone could reach. Faith is a core part of who I am.
But my advocacy extends far beyond faith.
I stand with all survivors; those who believe, those who do not, and those still searching. Trauma does not care about religion, and healing is not reserved for any one path. Whether your strength comes from God, community, therapy, resilience, or your own determination, you can move forward. You can rise. You can rebuild.
My mission is simple:
To support every survivor with honesty, compassion, and respect, no matter what they believe.
Healing belongs to everyone. And your journey matters.
